Another early (Norfolk) release by Shirley Johnson was "Have A Little Faith In Me". This song was written by fellow Shiptown / How Big artist Wilson Williams (Jerry's brother) and when issued probably formed Shirley's first ever 45 release.
As with the previously mentioned "Too Big To Cry" (by Shirley), I have never actually seen a copy (or label photocopy) of this single.

It seems that the Dish-A-Tunes guys (J R Bailey; Ken Williams; etc) were a popular team for Norfolk based acts to work with.
Not only did D-A-T mix a version of Barbara Stant's “My Mind Holds Onto Yesterday” and cut tracks on Shiptown's house band the Positive Sounds .... but late 70's Norfolk based group Norfolk also worked with the team (on cuts such as "Gift Wrap My Love" & "Together").
The group Norfolk also included (at one time) the ex-leader of earlier Norfolk group Jato VonDel who had recorded for James Gregory's Mr G / Gregory Records (Boba supplied that info).

Finally got some detailed answers back from Barbara Stant ... to the questions I fired off to her via several routes a while back ...
it turns out that .... she started sing in my church choir at about age 10 or 11. Maybe about a year later she was asked to join this gospel group. They were all pre-teens and all in the same church ..... They sounded good but there was something missing (she says). One night they were on a program and a young lady sang with another group (all the other members of which were adults). She had the VOICE and played the piano too. It became their mission to get her into "Barbara's" group. Her name was Maddie, now known to the world as Debbie Taylor. The pair have been friends ever since.

The Dream Team's big Gregory label 45 shows just how close this outfit worked with the Shiptown team.
Their song was written by Norman Johnson (of the Showmen) & Joe Webster (of the Anglos), both guys / groups being managed by Noah Biggs. The backing band on their cuts was also Shiptown's house / studio band, the (Positive) Sounds Band.

The Soulscape CD of Barbara Stant tracks will be out in the not too distant future .... 4000+ word booklet notes by yours truly.
The CD will feature alternate takes of some of her released tracks ... perhaps these are the original demo version's cut in Shiptown's own studio ... or they may be the original 'released' versions before they were fully mixed and strings, etc, added.
Either way, this should be a most worthy release !!!

Shiptown & most of the other Norfolk 'soul' record companies based themselves on Church St in the city.
Back in the 60's this was a thrivng area, full of bars, clubs, record shops, etc. all located around the Attucks Theatre.
This theatre fell into dis-use & although it was going to be demolished, it was eventually saved & refurbed.
NOW, the only building (that was on Church St in the 60's) still in existance is the Attucks.
...... Here's a clip from a recentish soul concert at the venue .....
